The Porsche Cayenne is a mid-sized, five-seat, sport utility, luxury vehicle constructed by the legendary German auto-manufacturer, Porsche. It was launched in the year 2002. The Porsche 928 was premiered in 1995 and Porsche Cayenne is the first vehicle by Porsche, after Porsche 928, which is V8 engined.

The design of the doors and frames of Cayenne are inspired from Volkswagen, which makes use of these doors and frames in its model-Volkswagen Touareg. Other aspects of manufacturing the vehicle such as its production, tuning, and design, are undertaken in the main house of Porsche.

The base model of Cayenne is motorized by the 3.6 liter VR6 engine. This engine produces 290 hp, i.e. 220 KW. The exhaust manifold was modified a bit to produce power that was as much as 6700 rpm. The starting price of a brand new Cayenne V6 is $45,000. Recently (February, 2009), the base model was modified to be powered by 3.0 liter V6 Turbo Diesel.
